The United States has proposed a diplomatic framework aimed at reducing tensions between Israel and Lebanon, a US official told Al Arabiya English on Sunday.

According to the official, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with both Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as part of ongoing diplomatic negotiations between Israel and Lebanon.

To advance the talks, Washington proposed what the official described as a “clear sequence” under which Hezbollah would stop all attacks on Israel. In return, Israel would refrain from escalating military action in Beirut, creating space for gradual de-escalation and an effective cessation of hostilities.
