The selfie point at Marina now
The iconic “Namma Chennai” selfie point at Marina Beach, along the city’s recognisable photo landmarks, has remained in a damaged condition for a long period. And selfie-hungry youngsters and seniors as well do not want the delay to extend any further.Installed to bring a sense of community and engagement to the Marina beachfront, the structure measures 28 feet in width, 10 feet in height and has a thickness of 2 feet.Since its inauguration, it has served as a catchy backdrop for residents and tourists to freeze memories of their visit to the iconic beach.Efforts had been initiated to restore the damaged structure before the Model Code of Conduct for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections came into force. However, the repair works had to be put on hold when the model code kicked in.
