TripDesk, the AI-powered enterprise travel platform, has already crossed $2.3 million in revenue within just 120 days of its public launch, according to its founder, Mark Essien. The startup also reached profitability by its second month of operation—a rare feat in Africa’s startup ecosystem and a sign of strong demand for localized B2B solutions.
Founded by Essien, the software engineer behind Hotels.ng, TripDesk is bringing AI to corporate travel for Africa’s large companies, spanning banking, telecommunications, mining, and FMCG sectors. While enterprise AI adoption may seem ambitious in a market still reliant on paper-based processes, Essien says the need is urgent: “The complexity of an individual travel case is often five times more complex in Africa than in the West. We created a solution that addresses logistics, financing, and complex approvals directly.”
Profitability from Day One
Much like Hotels.ng transformed consumer travel, TripDesk is now “leveling the playing field” for African enterprises. Its rapid adoption allowed the company to close a strategic seed round featuring a debt-equity mix. By achieving profitability in its second month, TripDesk has already begun servicing its debt obligations, delivering early returns to investors—a rare achievement in the region’s venture ecosystem.
