Sure, love shouldn’t be bought, but let’s not pretend a great gift doesn’t help. If there’s a grad in your life you actually care about, this is your moment to prove it. And yes, before you say it, would they prefer cash? Absolutely. No debate. Cash is king.

But here’s the thing about cash: I got a decent amount of it for my own graduation, and it vanished… fast. We’re talking rounds of shots for people whose last names I never learned (don’t regret it), an absurd number of Ubers when public transportation was right there, and the occasional DoorDash order for items as simple as paper towels. Not my proudest financial era. The point is, money disappears. A good gift sticks around, ideally, long enough to make you look thoughtful well into their mid-twenties.
