June 1, 2026 — 6:33amPolice have confirmed a person has died in an early morning house fire in Melbourne’s west.Emergency services were called to Newbury Street in Werribee just after midnight on Monday with reports that multiple children were trapped inside a burning house. They arrived within three minutes to find a single-storey brick veneer house on fire.A person has died in an early morning house fire in Melbourne’s west, while another sustained serious injuries.Paul Jeffers“Sadly, a resident of the home died at the scene, and a second resident remains in hospital with serious injuries,” Senior Constable Paul Hogan said on ABC radio.The age of the dead person is yet to be officially confirmed by authorities.
