Guwahati: There was high tension in Konsakhul area of Manipur on Sunday after a villager was seriously injured in an alleged ambush by armed cadres of the Kuki National Front (P) (KNF(P)) and people from Leilon Vaiphei village.According to the Konsakhul Village Authority, one person sustained injuries while another was reported missing following the incident.In a statement issued on Sunday, the Village Authority alleged that the attack occurred at around 10:30 am after the water supply line serving Konsakhul Naga Village was deliberately cut, disrupting a vital public utility relied upon by residents for their daily needs. It stated that "when residents proceeded to restore the disrupted water supply, our villagers were mercilessly ambushed without any provocation".The Konsakhul Village Authority said it had created an atmosphere of fear, insecurity and distress among the village's residents. "The assault on innocent civilians on a Sunday, a sacred day of worship and prayer for Christians, is not only deplorable but constitutes a grave violation of human rights and Christian principles," the statement said.Regarding another incident, the Manipur police posted on X, "On 30th May 2026, at around 1:45 pm, unknown armed miscreants fired in the vicinity of Kharam Vaiphei Village, Kangpokpi district. In the ensuing firing incident, five kutcha houses in Kharam Vaiphei village were burnt. District police, along with security forces deployed near the village, responded to the incident and brought the firing and arson under control. No casualties were reported."
