The approval was conveyed on Sunday by a Federal Government delegation that visited the affected communities of Esiele and Yawota, where armed men attacked schools on May 15 and whisked away pupils and teachers into nearby forests.
President Bola Tinubu has approved the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards in Oyo State and directed security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the release of dozens of pupils and teachers abducted by gunmen from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.
The approval was conveyed on Sunday by a Federal Government delegation that visited the affected communities of Esiele and Yawota, where armed men attacked schools on May 15 and whisked away pupils and teachers into nearby forests.
According to a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the delegation informed community leaders and lawmakers that Tinubu had also ordered the establishment of a specialised security operation combining advanced rescue capabilities and intelligence-driven tactics to ensure the safe return of the victims.
The delegation was led by the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, and included the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu; the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa; and the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare.
