In a step towards promoting sustainable urban mobility, the foundation stone for the development of the Gajuwaka RTC depot into a state-of-the-art electric bus depot (E-Depot) was laid on Sunday by Transport Minister Ramprasad Reddy in the presence of Gajuwaka MLA and AP Telugu Desam Party State president Palla Srinivasa Rao.Describing the initiative as a milestone in the State’s transition towards green mobility, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that the government was committed to providing safer, efficient and environmentally sustainable transport services. “The promotion of electric mobility is a key component of the State’s broader vision to reduce carbon emissions and encourage the adoption of clean energy in public transport,” he said.Highlighting the government’s push towards sustainable transit, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that out of the 750 electric buses (e-buses) sanctioned, 100 had been allocated to the Gajuwaka depot. This, he said, would significantly enhance commuter convenience while ensuring wider access to modern, comfortable and pollution-free transport services across the region. He added, “The upgrade of the depot into a modern electric mobility hub would strengthen the public transport network in and around Gajuwaka.” Published - May 31, 2026 08:15 pm IST
