Samsung Electronics' automotive LPDDR4X memory [SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS]
Samsung Electronics has overtaken U.S. chipmaker Micron Technology for the first time as the world's largest supplier in the automotive memory semiconductor market.
While the Korean chipmaker appears to have lost some ground in the race for high bandwidth memory (HBM), industry observers say it has established an early lead in automotive memory as autonomous and software defined vehicles gain traction.

Samsung Electronics captured a 40 percent share of the global automotive memory market last year, according to automotive research firm S&P Global Mobility on Sunday. The figure was up five percentage points from a year earlier, when the company accounted for 35 percent in terms of market share.
