MANILA, Philippines – The Senate is implementing tightened security measures as the camp of Vice President Sara Duterte is expected to file on Monday her answer to the writ of summons issued against her in relation to her impeachment trial.
“Vice President Sara Duterte has until Monday, 1 June 2026, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., to file her answer to the Articles of Impeachment. The Vice President may file her answer personally, through counsel, or through electronic mail,” Senate Secretary Jose Luis Montales said in an advisory released to the media.
Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano earlier announced that the summons in relation to the Articles of Impeachment was duly served to Duterte on May 20, two days after the upper chamber convened as an impeachment court for her trial.
The impeachment trial isexpected to begin on July 6.
