A 30-year-old woman has died and two other people remain in a critical condition following a suspicious fire at a flat in Hong Kong’s affluent Mid-Levels district, with police later uncovering drug-taking apparatus in a bedroom.The Hospital Authority confirmed on Sunday that the woman, who had been rushed to Ruttonjee Hospital in Wan Chai, was pronounced dead at 11.20pm on Saturday.A source said the 30-year-old, a mainland Chinese woman holding a two-way permit, had sustained extensive burns to multiple parts of her body.A man and a woman who were taken to Queen Mary Hospital in Pok Fu Lam remained in a critical condition, the authority added.They were identified as a 64-year-old local man, surnamed Wan, who suffered severe burns to his limbs and respiratory tract from smoke inhalation, and a 37-year-old mainland woman, surnamed Lu, who was also visiting the city on a two-way permit, according to the insider.Two-way permits are granted by mainland authorities and allow the holders to visit Hong Kong for up to three months.According to sources, the deceased woman, surnamed Ni, and Wan were a couple, while Lu was a friend visiting them.
