Two besties with prestigious degrees from IIT Kharagpur and IIM Bangalore left their cushy corporate jobs to launch a one-of-a-kind cafe in Bengaluru. The dynamic duo, who worked at an American consulting firm ditched their coveted jobs to launch an eatery that served acai bowls, natural smoothies and nutritious super snacks. “15 years of friendship turned into a startup,” reads the caption posted on the Instagram page of the company, Acai Theory. In the video, they explained both of them fell in love with acai bowls and wondered why the superfood had not been introduced to the Indian market and fitness enthusiasts. On their website, they revealed their entrepreneurial journey. “Rishav had been enjoying açaí bowls for years while living in Dubai, but during a recent trip with his long-time friend Akash, he ordered one at a café in Sydney. One acai bowl changed everything…. Akash took a bite, loved the taste, and realised something surprising: food this delicious, fresh, and nourishing wasn’t easily available back home in India…”The café, listed on Google as a dessert destination, was launched in 2025 by entrepreneurs Akash Kyal and Rishav Ranjan.According to his LinkedIn profile, Kyal attended St. Anthony's School in Ranchi and later participated in an exchange program at HEC Paris. Both of them had previously worked at the prestigious Boston Consulting Group.
