The Gurugram Traffic Police has impounded a Toyota Fortuner after finding unpaid traffic fines amounting to Rs 83,500, officials said on Saturday.The action was taken as part of ongoing special enforcement drives conducted by the city traffic police against motorists violating traffic regulations. Under Section 167(8) of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, vehicles with traffic challans pending for more than 90 days and unpaid fines are liable for action during inspections.Traffic Inspector Lokesh and his team were carrying out vehicle checks on Friday when they stopped the Fortuner and examined its documents.Also Read: Amid paper leak row, students seen solving exam paper with mobiles at centre; netizens say ‘system has failed’During verification, the team found that the vehicle had 10 pending traffic challans linked to multiple violations, with an outstanding penalty of Rs 83,500. An official said strict action would continue against motorists found driving without high-security registration plates, using illegal black films or committing other traffic violations.
