Justice Anu Sivaraman of the Karnataka High Court has stressed the need for workshops to spread awareness about welfare schemes and legal protections available to people, particularly those from disadvantaged communities.The judge was speaking after inaugurating a legal awareness workshop for the Banjara community in Shivamogga on Saturday.People in Lambani/Banjara tandas face numerous challenges, including obtaining identity documents, accessing welfare schemes, dealing with domestic violence, educational barriers, and social discrimination. Legal awareness workshops, she said, would help community members understand their rights and build the confidence to approach authorities for benefits they are entitled to.
