Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys has said European countries should first agree on their demands and objectives for peace talks with Russia before discussing potential representatives to take part in them.
Source: LRT, a Lithuanian state-funded public service broadcaster, citing Budrys, speaking to journalists on 30 May, as reported by European Pravda
Details: As European capitals begin discussing who could represent them in any peace talks with Moscow on Russia's war against Ukraine, Budrys stressed that demands must be defined before candidates are considered.
Quote: "Before starting negotiations, we must agree on what exactly will be the subject of the talks, what our demands are, what the final result should be and what the criteria for success are. We must be ready for this. In this case, a 'let's try' approach is inappropriate; there is nothing to try here."
