A Nairobi man has been charged with malicious damage to property after he allegedly rammed through his ex-wife’s gate and crashing into her packed car.
Vincent Owino Oduor was arraigned in court on allegations that he willfully damaged the rear bumper of a car belonging to Monica Njeri Mwangi and a sliding gate, with the total value of the damaged property placed at Sh271,000.
The incident occurred on the night of May 23, 2026, at Central View Estate in Nairobi. Court documents state that Owino drove to Njeri’s residence around 10pm, found the gate locked, and rammed it in an attempt to gain entry.
The couple separated in 2022. According to the prosecution, Njeri purchased and developed a property in Ngong, which she rented out. However, rental payments were allegedly diverted to Owino’s account after he instructed the tenant to pay him directly.
When Njeri moved to redirect the payments to her own account, friction escalated. She engaged a lawyer and served the tenant, prompting Owino’s reaction on the night in question.
