SportFootballArsenal FCArsenal legend Jack Wilshere has had his say on Saturday's Champions League final between the Gunners and PSG in Budapest08:15, 30 May 2026Arsenal academy graduate Jack Wilshere has called on Mikel Arteta to field Myles Lewis-Skelly in central midfield for the Champions League final. Arteta's final team selection of the season will represent the most crucial decision of his managerial tenure so far.His squad will face an exceptional Paris Saint-Germain outfit that has torn through Europe this campaign. Wilshere, now manager of Luton Town, knows Lewis-Skelly nearly as intimately as Arteta does. The former midfielder worked with the teenager during his time coaching Arsenal's youth sides, and always believed the youngster was naturally suited to the centre of the park.Despite predominantly operating at left-back, Wilshere, who will participate in SoccerAid for UNICEF this weekend on May 31st, is convinced Lewis-Skelly is fully prepared to shine against PSG.Speaking at the SoccerAid media day, Wilshere, when asked if Lewis-Skelly is ready to start in midfield against Luis Enrique's side, said: "Yes. What I love about Myles and what he's done since he got to the first team is that he has the same character.FOLLOW OUR ARSENAL FB PAGE! I'm sure if he was asked to play in midfield he would do a great job."I worked with Myles and I thought he would be a midfielder. I think to play in midfield at the top level is really, really hard."Mikel has done outstanding to find a position for him because he has so much ability and his understanding of the game, as you can see he can play left-back, midfield and I think he will end up in midfield."It might not be as consistent as he wants, right now, but I think eventually he will and I think everyone has seen it. It's hard to play in midfield and not everyone can do it.Article continues below"But he has the ability, he has the awareness and I was happy to see him there. I know how much he can influence a team, the way he received and drives forward - I'm happy for him."Lewis-Skelly spent much of the campaign warming the bench, locked in competition with Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapie, both of whom impressed at left-back.It was not until the emphatic 3-0 win over Fulham that Arteta handed him a starting berth in central midfield for the Gunners. That decision may yet prove to be the pivotal turning point that transformed him into one of Arsenal's cornerstone figures in Budapest.Choose Daily Mirror as a 'Preferred Source' on Google News for quick access to the news you value.UEFA Champions League FinalParis Saint-GermainUnicefMikel ArtetaLuis EnriqueJack WilshereArsenal FC
