TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Agency for the Implementation of Pancasila Ideology (BPIP) will hold the Pancasila Day Commemoration Ceremony at the historical Pancasila Building in Jakarta on Monday, June 1, 2026. BPIP Chief Secretary Tonny Agung Arifianto explained that the venue was chosen because the building bore direct witness to the momentous birth of the state ideology."The Pancasila Building was the exact site where the BPUPKI (Committee for Preparatory Work for Indonesian Independence) proceedings took place under the leadership of Dr. Radjiman Wedyodiningrat," Tonny noted during a press conference broadcast via BPIP's YouTube channel in Jakarta on Friday, May 29, 2026.He stated that choosing this landmark is also aimed at educating the public about the historical significance of the site. It is a monument that needs to be remembered by the community.A total of 405 guests have been invited to the upcoming ceremony. However, the general public will not be able to attend the main event inside due to space limitations. "We have a limited number of invitees, primarily high-ranking officials from various ministries and state institutions," he said.Nevertheless, he mentioned that citizens can still participate in the Pancasila Day commemorations. BPIP has scheduled a community charity event to take place on Sunday, May 31, 2026. "There will be free health check-ups, blood donations, and various other activities where the public can get involved," he noted.During the official ceremony, President Prabowo Subianto is slated to serve as the inspector of the proceedings. BPIP Head Yudian Wahyudi confirmed that the main ceremony will commence precisely at 10:00 a.m. WIB.Yudian shared that the official theme for the 2026 Pancasila Day is 'Pancasila Pemersatu Bangsa, Fondasi Perdamaian Dunia' (Pancasila Unites the Nation, Foundation of World Peace). The theme underscores the relevance of Pancasila's values in safeguarding national unity and serving as a framework for global peace. "The emblem chosen for this year's commemoration is our national symbol, the Garuda Pancasila," he added. To formalize these plans, BPIP has issued Circular Letter Number 2 of 2026 regarding the Guidelines for the Commemoration of Pancasila Day in 2026. The directive urges all state institutions, ministries, the military (TNI), the National Police (Polri), regional governments, educational institutions, and civic groups to hoist the Red and White Flag for a full day on June 1, 2026.BPIP is also encouraging the rollout of social charity activities on May 31, 2026. These initiatives include blood donations, free medical check-ups, social aid distribution, public markets, community cleanup drives, and environmental or place-of-worship inspections.Additionally, the circular requests public servants and employees across the archipelago to hold morning ceremonies in their respective regions. The subsequent lowering of the Red and White Flag will take place at 5:00 p.m. WIB or local time. This evening ceremony will be conducted in a brief and solemn manner by the local Paskibraka flag-lowering squad, without the assembly of full parade participants or outside guests.Read: Prabowo Leads June 1 Pancasila Day Ceremony as Chief InspectorClick here to get the latest news updates from Tempo on Google News
