Sir, – Seeing that our former president and many of our soccer fans call for a boycott of the Ireland-Israel soccer fixture because they believe genocide is being enacted by Israel, I was surprised so many attended the game against Qatar. Qatar, as we all know, finances Hamas, the elected government of Gaza that initiated the current round of conflict in Gaza. The Hamas leadership was, and is, safely based in Qatar. Hamas is supported by the Iranian regime, and believes Jews should be exterminated. I think that is genocidal in intention, though that thought does not trouble the cherry-picking minds of Irish people and their supposedly fair-minded media. – Yours, etc,Eugene Tannam,Firhouse,Dublin 24.
