Dr Pongtorn says value-based healthcare is not only vital to patients' long-term recovery, but also empowers them to regain independence and return to their daily lives with confidence and dignity.

Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS) is advancing value‑based healthcare by securing global ICHOM certifications across its hospital network. The International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM) is a globally recognised organisation dedicated to developing standardised outcome measures that matter most to patients. This certification reflects BDMS's commitment to advancing patient-centred care and delivering healthcare excellence aligned with the top international standards.

"These recognitions signify BDMS's enduring dedication to maintaining world-class standards of care through comprehensive, multidisciplinary and outcome-driven healthcare delivery," said Dr Pongtorn Kietdumrongwong, director of BDMS's project management.

By emphasising the measurement of patient outcomes before, during and after treatment, the ICHOM framework supports the continuous enhancement of clinical quality, long-term recovery, and sustainable quality of life.

In 2026, BDMS plans to achieve ICHOM Level 1 accreditation for 18 hospitals in its network. Seven already achieved Level 1 accreditation: Bangkok Heart Hospital (heart failure), Bangkok Hospital Phuket (heart failure), Bangkok International Hospital (stroke), Bangkok Hospital Sanam Chan (stroke), Bangkok Hospital Mueang Rat (stroke), Phyathai 1 Hospital (stroke) and Phyathai 2 Hospital (stroke).
