ESPN was first to confirm a deal.Gansey rose to prominence in Cleveland’s front office over the last decade, steadily working his way up to General Manager. He lands the top spot in Philadelphia, a position that will report to Bob Myers and the ownership group led by Josh Harris. Gansey is a former player at West Virginia University and was once one of the most versatile small forward talents in the Big East Conference.In Philadelphia, Gansey will lead the front office and will be tasked with running day-to-day operations. He was always a strong candidate for the position. He emerged as the lead candidate over recent days. With the 76ers, Gansey will inherit a team led by Joel Embiid, Paul George, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe. He will inherit a team with significant financial challenges, and a team that won 45 games this season and advanced to the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.Gansey is expected to formally sign a deal early next week. With the NBA Draft and free agency looming over the next six weeks, it will be a busy time for the 76ers.
