Srimat Swami Gautamananda Ji Maharaj unveiled the restored documentary India - Where Centuries Coexist by the late Ddocumentary and television filmmaker S. Krishnaswamy here on Friday.

The updated version of the documentary ‘Indus valley to Indira Gandhi’ which is now titled ‘India - Where Centuries Co-exist’, created by late veteran documentary and television filmmaker and founder of Krishnaswamy Associates, S. Krishnaswamy, was released by Srimat Swami Gautamananda Ji Maharaj, President of Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, here on Friday.Upon releasing it, he spoke about how the documentary reflects the unity of Indian culture. “Material values come and go, but the spirit survives. That is why Indian culture has endured through the centuries,” he said.The original documentary was released in 1976 as a four-hour film mapping 5000 years of subcontinental history. The film now has been digitally remastered and enhanced by Krishnaswamy associates and extends its narrative to contemporary India, mainly including its technological transformation and political developments. It has been uploaded on Indian Imprints on YouTube.Mohana Krishnaswamy, Chairman of Krishnaswamy Associates said the film remains valid and relevant without going back on anything stated in it.“Why revisit a documentary created nearly fifty years ago? It is because of the film’s enduring depth and perspective. It neither glorifies nor condemns but simply presents and encourages us to think,” said Latha Krishna, Executive Director of Krishnaswamy Associates.Gita Krishna Raj, Director of Krishnaswamy Associates said that she was extremely grateful to have brought her father’s last wish to fruition through the updated documentary.
