MANILA, Philippines – Japan has committed to backing the Philippines’ target to beef up its fuel reserve capacity, as the Middle East war has exposed the latter’s vulnerability.
Currently, the Philippines has begun working on a strategic petroleum reserve program, which would include the construction of new stockpiling facilities.

This is according to a joint statement from the Department of Energy and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan released following President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s state visit to the latter.
