Manchester Techbio Spin-Out Imperagen Raises £5 Million (6.7 Million USD) Seed Round to Scale Closed-Loop Quantum Biocatalysis Platform

Imperagen Ltd, a Manchester-based techbio innovator accelerating industrial enzyme engineering, has successfully finalized a £5 million (6.7 million USD) seed funding round. The investment loop was led by regional deep-tech backer PXN Ventures—deploying capital via the GMC Life Sciences Fund and the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II (NPIF II)—with continued participation from existing venture backers IQ Capital and Northern Gritstone. The fresh influx of capital brings Imperagen’s total financing footprint to £8.5 million ($11.44 million USD), providing an 18-month cash runway to expand its automated wet-lab infrastructure, scale its data science engineering group, and drive market commercialization across the global biopharma, personal care, and fine chemical sectors.
