Three CPI (Maoist) operatives have been chargesheeted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for allegedly supplying explosive materials and logistical support to cadres of the banned outfit in Andhra Pradesh. The NIA has filed its first chargesheet in the case (RC-12/2024/NIA/DLI) before the Special NIA Court in Visakhapatnam, charging the three accused under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code, the Explosive Substances Act, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.Two of the accused, Naka Devid Raj alias Daveedu and Vijay Viswas, were identified as overground workers (OGWs) of the CPI (Maoist). They were allegedly caught red-handed and arrested by local police while transporting a consignment of explosives intended for delivery to the third accused, Sodi Kesa, an underground Maoist cadre.According to the NIA, investigations revealed that Devid Raj and Vijay Viswas were involved in the procurement, transportation and supply of explosive materials to underground Maoist cadres for use in attacks on security forces. The agency further alleged that the duo had established links with CPI (Maoist) members and had knowingly provided assistance to further the organisation’s activities. The NIA, which took over the case from the local police in September 2024, said the conspiracy was aimed at strengthening the operational capabilities of the banned outfit in the region and undermining national security and stability.Further investigation is under way to identify other links and associates connected to the organisation.
