The SN8100 is WD's first PCIe Gen5 SSD with TLC 3D CBA (CMOS directly Bonded to Array) NAND, which was announced last year. This solid-state drive offers quite impressive speeds of up to 14,900 MB/s read and 11,000 MB/s write (sequential), with random speeds rated at over 1,600,000 IOPS read and 2,400,000 IOPS write. Such fast SSDs can get quite toasty, so WD equipped the SN8100 with a low-profile heatsink that dissipates excessive heat and adds to your PC a sprinkle of RGB.
Besides faster speeds, WD claims its PCIe Gen5 SSD is two times more energy efficient than PCIe Gen4-based models, an important factor to consider in devices like laptops. As for reliability, WD promises 600 TBW and a limited five-year warranty. You can track the drive's health in the Sandisk Dashboard app, which is available on Windows.
