Aimee Bright arrived in Europe and was greeted by a bad case of food poisoning. But two months later, she left Europe with a shiny silver medal — the first of her senior career.
Bright is the daughter of Olympic sailing legend Barbara Kendall, and Shayne Bright — who coached Kendall for 12 years — but is making her own way in windsurfing.
Twenty-year-old Aimee recently claimed silver at the 2026 iQFOiL European Championships in Portimão, Portugal, marking the first podium finish of her senior career.
She travelled to Barcelona in March for race preparation, and immediately was bed-ridden for days.
“I could not get out of bed or eat anything without feeling so ill that I was going to throw up, so I spent three days in bed absolutely dying then having to recover and be able to go sailing,” Bright recalls.
