After flagging off a bus service from Sivakasi to Konampatti village, Tamil Nadu Minister for Industries Keerthana travelled in the same bus with the commuters here on Friday.Recently, a woman identified as Muthuselvi had posted a video in the social media, which went viral. The woman had appealed to Chief Minster C. Joseph Vijay to operate buses to all parts in the district. “The government need not give free buses, but ensure that service was provided without fail....” she stated.Immediately, Ms Keerthana is understood to have directed the officials to check on the grievance of the woman and the reports suggested that the villagers of Konampatti have been seeking a bus to their habitation for at least two decades.Though there are buses operated on the stretch, the villagers had to trek for about two kilometres to reach Konampatti from the main road. After obtaining necessary approvals, TNSTC operated a bus on the new route from Sivakasi to Konampatti thus fulfilling the long pending grievance. The commuters also thanked the Minister for her swift response, an official release said. Published - May 29, 2026 09:41 pm IST
