CASE UPDATE: In September 2025, the Austin Police Department identified Robert Eugene Brashers, a serial killer and rapist, as the suspect in the Texas yogurt shop murders. Brashers, who is deceased, was tied to the murders through DNA testing. On Feb. 19, 2026, a judge declared innocent the four men who were wrongfully accused of the murders — formally exonerating them. In May 2026, the City of Austin agreed to pay a settlement of $35 million to be split among the men.When four teenage girls were murdered in an Austin, Texas, yogurt shop in 1991, a heartbroken city was left searching for answers. No one imagined that more than 30 years later, the case would remain unsolved. But now, thanks to new advances in DNA technology, there is renewed hope that a piece of evidence collected from the scene on the night of the crime will be key to solving the case once and for all. "48 Hours" correspondent Erin Moriarty reports in an encore of "The Yogurt Shop Murders," airing Saturday, Aug. 2 at 9/8c on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.
