The latest entry from the “sounds too good to be true and yet here we are” department has just dropped at Amazon. Would you believe sub-$40 Sony wireless headphones? Don’t spend too much time in disbelief, because this very real $37 deal on Sony’s WH-CH520 wireless Bluetooth headphones (black model only) is predictably selling very, very quickly.

The WH-CH520 is Sony’s entry-level wireless on-ear headphone, and it dominates that category with 50 hours. That’s enough for a long-haul flight, a festival weekend, or a full work week of all-day use without a recharge. Quick charging via USB-C adds a few hours of playback from a short top-up when the battery does run low, which means forgetting to charge overnight isn’t a crisis.

Everyday Listening

The very non-entry-level sound quality of the WH-CH520 is customizable through Sony’s Headphones Connect app, which adds EQ adjustment and DSEE processing — Sony’s algorithm for upscaling compressed audio files to closer to lossless quality. For anyone streaming at standard quality or listening to older MP3 files, DSEE does audible work on the top end and spatial feel.
