Wembanyama was wearing a thobe, a garment worn mostly by men and associated with the Muslim culture.San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama walked into a win-or-go-home Game 6 of the Western Conference finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder dressed in a green thobe, honoring the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice.

Eid al-Adha is the second of two Islamic holidays globally celebrated annually. It focuses on the prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God.

Wembanyama bounced back from a Game 5 loss where he not only made 4 of 15 from the field but also did not speak to reporters after the game, drawing a warning from the league the next day.“It’s all about how you wake up in the morning, and you prepare yourself to go to work for the day,” Vince Carter said later on NBC’s pregame show Thursday. “I think the way he dressed, the way he prepared himself, the way he walked in, is the start of his preparation for the game. I think that’s the start of fixing the problem. ‘Let me find something that worked for me and will motivate me to get ready for this.'”
