The State government has suspended from service a higher secondary school Principal on the charge of violation of code of conduct for government employees.Javad S., Principal of Government Model Boys Higher Secondary School, Attingal, Thiruvananthapuram, was suspended on Friday, just two days before his retirement on May 31, for allegedly sharing through his Facebook account content insulting Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan.The Additional Director General of Police (Intelligence) had in a communication reported that Mr. Javad had through his Facebook account edited and shared photos and posters ridiculing the Chief Minister. Such posts were intended to send a wrong message to society and resulted in the possibility of political polarisation among students and teachers.As a government employee, use of social media to criticise individuals and the government should be seen as a grave violation of discipline, the ADGP’s letter said, recommending department-level action against Mr. Javad.The Director of General Education too had recommended disciplinary action against Mr. Javad.The government examined the matter and decided to suspend him.
