Quite a few love stories have a soundtrack. The song that was playing when the couple first met, the song they sing in the car, the one they bonded over — it’s almost always someone else’s track that just fits.
Of course, when half of a couple is singer Annural Khalid, the song has to be her own. That’s what ‘Falling4U’ is — a bride’s ode to her loving husband.
With Khalid’s signature soft vocals and an acoustic guitar forming much of the musical accompaniment, the song is mellow, calmingly so. The point, however, lies in the simple but meaningful lyrics.
As if describing her own struggles before getting married, Khalid starts her song with, “Bechayn kab se, hum hain baithay. Din raat kitaabon main, tujh ko dhoondain. (I have been sitting restless for so long. Day and night, I have searched for you in books).”
She goes on to describe the love she has for her husband Moeez, whose picture with the singer is front and centre on the album’s cover, with words like “behisaab (immeasurable)” and “beshumaar (uncountable)”.
