Madras HC dismisses plea seeking inquiry into TVK chief Vijay’s assetsThe Madras High Court dismissed a new writ petition seeking an inquiry into the assets declared by Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president C. Joseph Vijay, while filing his nomination papers from the Perambur Assembly constituency for the elections held this year.The First Division Bench of Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G. Arul Murugan refused to entertain the petition, as they had already entertained another case of similar nature and ordered notice, returnable by June 3, to the Director General of Income Tax (Investigation).2. Elderly man beaten to death by co-passenger on moving busThe Chennai police have arrested a youth on charges of beating a 74-year-old co-passenger to death on a bus, after a dispute over route details.The victim has been identified as Chandrasekaran, an electrician from Serappanancheri near Padappai in Tambaram. He boarded a Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) bus.3. Tiger cub taken into captivityA male tiger cub was taken into captivity by the Forest department after it was found in the Muttinad reserve forest near the village of Solada in the Nilgiris forest division.Officials said local residents had noticed the tiger cub and informed the Forest department about the presence of two cubs in the village. They had not seen the mother and suspected she could have abandoned the cubs. They added that despite an ongoing search for the other cub and the mother, their efforts have so far proven unsuccessful. They said they would continue their search.
