What happens when you’re very, very wealthy and your drug-addicted kid disappears? You hire Matt, who specializes in “complex interventions” for the rich, famous, and publicity-averse. Matt’s specialties are discretion (he’s using his first name only here — if you can’t find him, you can’t afford him) and high-touch service (he’ll detox a client with a private team in an Airbnb if he needs to). He will also do “extractions” — high-risk operations that involve tracking down an addict who’s gone AWOL and needs coaxing into treatment. He typically gets referrals through ultraexclusive recruiters like Brian Daniel, who facilitated this interview; while he has a wide network, his company has no name or website.
