The United States Department of the Treasury announced on Thursday a new round of sanctions against individuals, companies, and vessels linked to the Islamic Republic.

According to a notice published on the department's website, an Indian national and 17 companies based in various countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, India, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the Marshall Islands, have been added to the US sanctions list.

The Treasury Department stated that these companies were connected to networks linked to the Islamic Republic, as well as to the "Sepehr Energy Jahan Nama Pars" company. This company, which operates in the oil and petrochemical sector, had previously been placed on the US sanctions list.

Meanwhile, eight oil tankers and shipping vessels flying the flags of countries including Panama, the Marshall Islands, Cameroon, and San Marino have also been subjected to the new sanctions. Washington has said these actions were taken in line with its "maximum pressure" policy, aimed at countering the Islamic Republic's oil transit networks, maritime shipping, and sanctions-evasion mechanisms.
