The deal will see Microsoft offtake power from the 140MW Bluebird Solar project and is the fourth signed between the two firms. The plant is expected to reach commercial operations in 2028 and cost an estimated $300 million to develop.

“Bluebird Solar builds on our longstanding commitment to energy development and operations in Washington, bringing meaningful economic benefits to Klickitat County. We are proud to have built a strong relationship with Microsoft to help them meet their energy needs while investing in the communities where we operate,” said Avangrid CEO Jose Antonio Miranda. “This adds to Avangrid's strong track record of developing projects to help meet growing energy demands from the world's leading technology companies."

Following the latest PPA, Microsoft has now contracted approximately 500MW of power from Avangrid. The companies have signed PPAs for the Powell Creek Solar project in Ohio and the Camino Solar project in California, both of which reached commercial operations in 2025. The third deal signed between the two companies was tied to the Juniper Canyon Wind project in Washington, which is expected to begin commercial operation this year.
