A Bhopal Court on Friday (May 29, 2026) sent Twisha Sharma’s husband Samarth Singh and her mother-in-law Giribala Singh to CBI custody for five days.They’ve been sent to custody till June 2. The CBI plans to question the mother-son duo and verify their claims, especially about the events leading to Twisha’s death.Earlier in the day, CBI produced both Giribala Singh and Samarth Singh before a court in Bhopal.On May 28, 2026, the CBI arrested retired Bhopal district judge Giribala Singh in the Twisha Sharma dowry harassment and death case, a day after the Madhya Pradesh High Court rejected the anticipatory bail a local court had granted her on May 15.Ms. Singh, Twisha’s mother-in-law, was questioned for six hours at her house in Bhopal before the arrest, the agency’s Chief Information Officer Beena Yadav told The Hindu. On Thursday morning, several CBI officers arrived at Ms. Singh’s residence and carried out an investigation and recreated the crime scene.On May 23, 2026, Samarth Singh was taken into custody. The Madhya Pradesh Court ordered a second autopsy of Twisha Sharma’s body by a specialised AIIMS Delhi team.The Madhya Pradesh government recommended a CBI probe on May 23, 2026.
