Rebekah Vardy has revealed that she 'wouldn't be here today' if she wasn't so strong as she opens up about her treatment surrounding the Coleen Rooney Wagatha Christie case.09:45, 29 May 2026Updated 09:46, 29 May 2026Rebekah Vardy has spoken out about the so-called Wagatha Chritie case with Coleen Rooney, revealing that she felt she was treated "worse than a paedophile" at her lowest points.‌Seven years ago in 2019, Coleen took to her social media to sensationally reveal that one of her confidants had been leaking stories from her private Instagram to the press "and it was...Rebekah Vardy's account." Vardy vehemently denied the allegations, and the wife of Wayne Rooney's detective skills saw her nicknamed "Wagatha Christie" and the chaos became a huge story.‌Vardy then lost a libel case to Rooney in 2022, and was ordered to cover the legal costs, which came to a sum of £1.4 million. Years on from this ordeal, Rebekah is set to launch a new show with her husband titled The Vardys and has opened up about the whole saga while promoting the new series - revealing.: “I was treated worse than a paedophile and for what? Was it that important? Was it in the public interest?”‌She said this as she opened up about receiving an offer from Rooney's side to settle the libel case outside of court. "There was an offer from the other side, not from my side. Look, it doesn’t benefit anyone to talk about it all again. I will only do that if I can make a legal documentary about the flaws in that whole bollocks."“If I hadn’t been as strong as I am, I probably wouldn’t be here today,” she says in her new show, adding: “Never ever will I apologise for something I didn’t do.”‌The star explained to The Times: "There were times when I questioned the point of existing. I didn’t want to be here any more. It was a horrendous time. What got me through was the life we have together and our children. Always the kids. They are our world.”Jamie, 39, and Rebekah, 44, share children; Megan, 21, Taylor, 16, Sofia, 11, Finley, 9, and Olivia, 6 - who Rebekah was pregnant with when this ordeal first unfolded. The star added that another turning point for her was a Caroline Flack documentary. The show detailed the presenter's death by suicide after public scrutiny after being charged with assault.‌"I watched the Caroline Flack documentary recently and it terrified me. There’s a lesson there: stay very close to the people who really know and love you, otherwise you’re risking mental torture like you can’t imagine," she said in the interview. The star added that now has a very different approach to social media, and if she had her way he children would never have social media accounts: "My life doesn’t revolve around social media, because sometimes it’s the devil’s a***hole."‌Explaining why she is still choosing to speak out about the case, despite the initial post being shared in 2019, she said: “Because some things in life you can’t run away from.“I can’t change the past but I will address it. You can’t brush off something so monumental but, at the same time, [the original post] was seven years ago.”The star said she has accepted that she is "marmite and feels she has been "portrayed as a villain since I met Jamie" adding that people thought she was a "gold digger" but "is not a b***h".Article continues below"I do come across as cold, but when you look at the bigger picture there’s a reason. At the same time, I am not a victim. I will not play the victim card,” she said. The Vardys starts at 9pm on Tuesday June 2 on ITV1 and ITVX
