NewsUK NewsCrimeBlake Moorhouse told his new girlfriend and her mother that his upcoming court appearance related to an assault - failing to disclose that he was on the sex offenders register10:02, 29 May 2026A mother was left horrified after discovering that the man dating her daughter, 17, and spending time at her home with her baby was a registered sex offender, a court was told.Blake Moorhouse, 21, had been handed a three-year community order for sexual activity with a 14-year-old in March 2026. However, Preston Crown Court heard that at the time of sentencing he was already deceiving people about his new relationship with a 17-year-old. Moorhouse claimed to be remorseful for his actions and pledged to comply with any conditions imposed by the court. Yet he was already flouting interim notification requirements that restricted his contact with under-18s.Preston Crown Court heard that the defendant, from Blackpool, had formed an online relationship with the teenager and had travelled to visit her and her young child. He had stayed in her bedroom, where her baby also slept, on several occasions - although the girl maintained the relationship was not sexual. On March 6 he was issued a sexual harm prevention order placing additional restrictions on his contact with children. He told his new girlfriend and her mother that his upcoming court appearance related to an assault - failing to disclose that he was on the sex offenders register, reports Lancs Live.Shortly afterwards, he received a call from MOSOVO, the police unit responsible for managing sexual and violent offenders. The girl grew suspicious and searched online to discover who had been attempting to contact him. Moorhouse was requested to vacate the property and the police were contacted. He surrendered himself upon learning that officers were searching for him, the court was told. The defendant, of Thornton-Cleveleys, pleaded guilty to six charges of breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order and notification requirements. Judge Robert Altham said: "I was very careful to remind myself at the point of sentence that the court must take great care when dealing with young defendants who have recently passed the age threshold - and you committed (the earlier offence) not long after you were a child yourself."After reading reports and you professing you were sorry and would comply it did not seem necessary to send you to custody and I didn't. Frankly I was completely wrong about that."Sadly you are now in front of me for six new offences arising out of a relationship with a 17-year-old girl and her newborn. You formed a relationship and were sleeping in the same room as her and child. That predated the sentence of March 6 and by your protestations of how you were going to comply you were already lying."You told her you were in court for an assault. You knew if you told her you were a child sex offender she was not going to allow you contact with her or her young child. It shows a good deal of dishonesty and manipulation by you to keep that relationship going."This all came out when you received a call from MOSOVO, the 17-year-old became suspicious and by doing internet searches she found out you were a sex offender and she was horrified. You were asked to leave the address and handed yourself in. There is no victim personal statement but the statement from her mum shows her concern as a mother. She is genuinely horrified."The judge stated that the blatant offending at the time he handed down the original sentence was so grave that he would resentence Moorhouse for that offence. He said: "It was a very difficult and finely balanced decision not to send you into custody in the first place. It is clear only immediate custody is the proper option for you. You have not and would not comply with any order I impose today. You are completely oblivious to the danger you pose to children and that makes you dangerous."Article continues belowHe sentenced Moorhouse to two years and four months for the original offences against a 14-year-old girl, with a further six months added for breaching his SHPO and notification requirements.Choose Daily Mirror as a 'Preferred Source' on Google News for quick access to the news you value.Newborn babyCrimeTeenagersSex offenders register
