The airline posted about it on social media, offering reassurance to a family flying with a child. In the exchange, a passenger named Sophie contacted @Jet2tweets to ask about its policy for young passengers. In the message, she explained that her family had booked a trip through a travel agent and found they were seated separately. As the family were travelling with a three-year-old child, they wanted to confirm if the seats could be amended. She wrote: "What’s your policy about letting a three-year-old sit on their own? We booked our holiday last night with a travel agent and checked in today and we are all sat separately. Is it likely they will ask someone to swap with my son so he’s not alone?"In response, a member of Jet2's social media team was quick to offer reassurance. They explained that the airline's check-in team could assist the family in amending their seats. The reply said: "Hi Sophie, children under the age of eight must be sat with their accompanying adult. If you are unable to amend your seats to sit next to each other, our friendly check-in team at the airport will be able to amend this for you. If you have any questions, please do send us a DM."Thanking the team member for their help, Sophie wrote: "Thank you for getting back to me. Unfortunately there is only single seats or extra leg room seats which he can’t sit in so we will hopefully get it sorted at the airport."The airline's team replied once more, confirming the family need not worry as the check-in team could offer assistance. The message said: "Not to worry Sophie, our friendly check in team will be able to assist you with this."Jet2's website offers information for passengers travelling with children. The airline says: "We would encourage you to pre-book your seats in advance to ensure you reserve the seats you want for your travelling party. You can do this when you book or by visiting Manage My Booking. If any member of your travelling party has any assisted travel requirements, please refer to our Assisted Travel and Medical FAQs."As a family-friendly airline we will make every effort to seat families together. We will try to seat children under 12 next to an accompanying adult, however, we may only be able to arrange this at the airport or on board if you have not pre-booked seats."Passengers can read reviews of the airline on TrustPilot, where Jet2 has an excellent rating. One family wrote: "We travelled with our toddler from NCL- ALC, and the staff were extremely accommodating by allowing us to use a free row of seats. We had paid to sit together, but the flight wasn't full, so we asked if we could use one of the free rows. This made what could have been a challenging flight really comfortable for all concerned. Thanks Jet2.com flight crew."Article continues belowSomeone else wrote: "Excellent flight, staff are fabulous and really went the extra mile when I was travelling alone with my toddler, I was very grateful."Choose Daily Mirror as a 'Preferred Source' on Google News for quick access to the news you value.Jet2Air travelTravelTravel TipsHolidaysCheap holidaysFamily holidaysParenting
Jet2 shares update for passengers with children under eight
The airline shared a message to passengers travelling with young children
Jet2 requires children under eight to be seated next to an accompanying adult; airport check-in staff can reassign seats when families haven't pre-booked together. Pre-booking remains the only reliable guarantee — last-minute seat changes at check-in are possible but subject to availability.
