The character of Jack Ryan has been a staple of political thrillers for decades, famously transitioning to the big screen in the 1990s. Back then, Paramount Pictures gave us The Hunt for Red October (1990), directed by John McTiernan with a modest production budget of around $30 million, pulling in over $200 million globally and proving that Clancy's intellectual espionage had box-office potential.

Now, after playing the character for four seasons on Amazon Prime Video, John Krasinski returns for what is marketed as either a grand finale or a potential new direction for the franchise in this standalone feature film titled Jack Ryan: Ghost War.
