Private plate appetite is still strong in Britain, with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency's (DVLA) latest auction seeing sales surpass £5million.
The week-long auction of private number plates saw more than 22,000 people registering to bid, and almost 2,000 registrations sold.
In total £5,164,150 was raised, and 66 registrations went for more than £10,000. These 66 registrations generated just under £1million.
The highest-priced registration was 57 O, which sold for £68,010 - more than 27 times higher than its starting price of just £2,500.
The DVLA's recent £5million auction follows the news that Britain snapped up more private plates last year than ever before, with £111million raised from fixed-priced online sales (2024-25) and £44million from auctions (2024-25).
