Sir, – Reading Dr Rory Stewart’s letter (May26th) on keeping doctors in Ireland I can fully identify with his description of hospital conditions for junior doctors as “unsafe staffing levels” relying on the “doctors’ goodwill as an inexhaustible resource”.Having recently retired as a programme director of a general practice training scheme, one of our main tasks was to chaperone and pastorally support the trainees during their obligatory hospital component of their training. – Yours, etc,DR MICHAEL GRIFFIN,Monaleen Rd,Limerick.
