Toronto police say the search for a man after an inflatable boat capsized near Cherry Beach on Wednesday is now a recovery operation, adding that the other man in the sinking dinghy was rescued by a boater who noticed trouble in the water.

Officials provided an update Thursday afternoon near the beach, 24 hours after the reports of the “small inflatable boat” capsizing around 1:45 p.m. in Lake Ontario. According to police, the marine unit was called to the scene by a boater who spotted the slowly deflating dingy and the two men struggling aboard.
