The much-anticipated return of the Liverpool-set comedy series has been confirmed and fan "can't wait"19:23, 28 May 2026Comedy fans have "cancelled all their plans" as the release date for a "hilarious" ITV sitcom has finally been unveiled.‌The Liverpool-set programme titled G'wed charts the lives of a group of youngsters. It explores the working-class culture of 'surviving with a sense of humour' with the distinctive voice of Liverpool and the authentic experience of children from the city, addressing topics such as grief, sex, diversity and class differences.‌"Recently orphaned middle-class teenager Christopher goes to live with his grandmother on a Liverpool council estate and forms an unlikely alliance with working-class Reece," the synopsis reads.‌"About to be expelled, Reece convinces his school's headmaster to give him one last chance and let him mentor Christopher."The series, which originally launched over two years ago, is poised to make its eagerly-awaited comeback on June 8th and fans "can't wait"Content cannot be displayed without consent‌The release date announcement was accompanied by a hilarious video of the cast bickering over who should be the one to disclose the launch date, reports the Liverpool Echo.The footage concluded with the actors walking off screen with the release date written across the back of their t-shirts.A trailer has also been released offering fans a glimpse of what lies ahead, including a first look at newcomer Jennifer Ellison, who takes on the role of Aimee's (Amber Harrison) mum Anna as she "turns her world upside down".‌The broadcaster has further hinted that the new episodes will be "funnier and bolder than ever", highlighting "powerful and thought-provoking themes from the refugee crisis to women in sport and one of the series' returning characters managing life with OCD".Reprising their roles are Dylan Thomas-Smith as Reece, Jake Kenny-Byrne as Christopher, Max Ainsworth as Connor, Dominic Murphy as Ted, Zak Douglas as Mo, Gemma Barraclough as Mia-Louise and Evie Ward-Drummond as The Brimble.‌Commenting on the programme's comeback, ITV's head of comedy Nana Hughes stated: "It is great to see that G'wed has resonated with our audiences across ITVX, ITV1 and ITV2!"(Creator) Danny Kenny's writing had us crying with laughter one second, crying real tears the next and then back to laughter."Enthusiastic viewers have wasted no time voicing their excitement on social media, with one simply writing: "FINALLY".
