May 28 (UPI) -- Rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq, the No. 16 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, underwent hernia surgery, coach Aaron Glenn announced Thursday.

Glenn said Sadiq played through the injury last season at Oregon. Glenn said her underwent in a minor procedure, but is expected to be ready to return at some point during training camp. The Jets are set to open training camp in late July.

"Sadiq had a minor procedure, so he won't be out at practice today," Glenn told reporters. "He had a minor procedure. Something we knew about going [through] his last year of college. He dealt with it in rookie minicamp.

"We wanted to make sure we got it done right after rookie minicamp so he'll be ready to go during training camp."
