According to the affected scholars, more than 450 postgraduate students across the Niger Delta region have yet to receive payment despite completing all verification and screening processes required by the commission.

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) received N225.8 billion as statutory allocation within eight months, a SaharaReporters' review of the public payments portal, Govspend, has shown.

The revelation comes amid growing frustration among beneficiaries of the 'Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme of the Niger Delta Development Commission', many of whom have threatened to stage mass protests over the prolonged delay in the disbursement of their scholarship funds.

SaharaReporters had earlier reported that hundreds of beneficiaries of the 2025 Local Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme raised the alarm over the alleged failure of the commission to release the funds at least eight months after the awards were announced.
