Michael Woud laid big plans for the winter of 2026 a year ago.
But he has had to change them, after an even bigger opportunity came his way.
The Auckland FC goalkeeper proposed to his partner Zana Renton last June, popping the question by writing “Marry me, Zana” with flower petals in a private pool in Bali.

Back then, he would have had no reason to believe he would have football commitments 12 months down the line, so they started making plans for a wedding around now.
