The leaks continue, as Samsung’s new and wider Galaxy Z Fold 8 has just surfaced in a hardware hands-on with a frame that looks remarkably thin in real life.
Samsung’s duo of Galaxy Z Fold 8 foldables – which have very confusing names now – includes a wider design that we haven’t seen before. The new device, best known as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 “Wide,” has a much wider aspect ratio that opens to a screen more ideal for videos and games, similar to the original Pixel Fold.
This new leak from Sonny Dickson gives us a pretty good look at the hardware, with the dummy unit offering the best idea of what this will be in person. The device looks just as it has in the many leaks, with a wide outer display and the same basic styling as other Galaxy foldables.
What stands out here is just how wide that outer display looks in the hand, but also just how thin it appears.
While it’s likely not any thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 7 – if anything, this dummy unit is maybe a little thicker as there’s a slight gap towards the hinge – the wider aspect ratio makes that thin profile look all the thinner. Dickson compares it to “an S25 Edge thin when folded,” which would put the device at under 6mm when folded. That’s not possible given the thickness of the USB-C port, but it hammers in the idea that this device is very thin.
